• NATO STANAG 4565 WECDIS Edition 3 is a significant uplift from Edition 2 that provides substantial enhancements and advanced features
• ECPINS Generation 7 is being developed in partnership with the RCN, RDN, RNLN and the RN and will exceed the requirements of the updated NATO STANAG 4565 Edition 3 standards
September 17, 2024, Vancouver, Canada - OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) is pleased to announce that ECPINS Generation 7 (ECPINS 7) development will be completed in the spring of 2025. This latest version of ECPINS will be fully compliant with NATO STANAG 4564 Edition 3 and set a new standard in naval navigation systems.
NATO STANAG 4564 Edition 3 represents a major upgrade from Edition 2, offering significant enhancements and advanced features tailored for both surface and subsurface naval operations.
Currently, deployed across 25 navies with over 700 warships and submarines worldwide, ECPINS 6 is the most advanced and the only WECDIS compliant to NATO STANAG 4565 Edition 2.
Representing the collective wisdom of NATO’s naval experts, ECPINS 7 will exceed the requirements of the updated NATO STANAG 4565 Edition 3 standards, elevating WECDIS performance to an unprecedented level and offer the most advanced capabilities for increased safety, improved interoperability, and standardized functions.
Unlike commercial vessels that follow IMO ECDIS standards, naval warships face drastically more demanding environments. ECPINS 7 addresses those challenges and includes tactical capabilities for high-speed navigation, mutual interference prevention, precision pilotage, underwater navigation, and operations in GNSS-denied environments.
As the leading global provider of WECDIS for warships and submarines, OSI’s development of ECPINS 7 will further solidify the company’s global leadership and has been developed in collaboration with the Royal Navy (RN) and the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), and with the support of the Royal Danish Navy (RDN) and Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN).
